Pulsar 0.4.2

This release lets you add mods Thunderstore doesn’t have, bring in profiles from a profile code, and find your way around a big mod list.

New

  • Add manually. Import from link is now Add manually: paste a link as before, or choose a .zip or .dll file. A file you add becomes a local mod in that profile. It never updates, and if you already have the same mod installed, the local copy replaces it.
  • Local mods folder. Open local mods folder on Installed Mods takes you to the profile’s local mods. Drop a new build in and Pulsar picks it up the next time you press Play, so mod makers can test without packaging anything.
  • Import a profile. On Manage profiles, Import profile takes a profile code or a .r2z file and makes a new profile from it, with the same mods, load order and config. You see the list before anything installs.
  • Modpacks as their own profile. A modpack’s page offers Install as new profile. Pulsar makes a profile named after the pack, with every mod at the version the pack lists, and leaves your current profile alone.
  • Dyslexia-friendly font. Turn on Use a dyslexia-friendly font in Settings to switch the app to OpenDyslexic.
  • Modding Discord and wiki. Each game’s settings link to its modding community’s Discord and wiki, where it has them, so you know where to ask when a mod breaks. (#10)

Improved

  • Installed Mods. Opens on Mods Added: the mods you chose, with their dependencies tucked away. Turn on Show dependencies to see what each one is there for. Load Order shows the full list, numbered, and you drag mods into the order you want.
  • Browse filters. Browse has All, Mods and Modpacks tabs, and a Categories filter. Click a category to require it, again to exclude it, and choose whether mods match any or all of them. (#9)
  • Refresh. Browse has a Refresh button that fetches the latest mods and versions without restarting Pulsar.

Known issue

  • Local mods after a restore. If Pulsar restores your mod list from its backup, a local mod whose file is no longer in the local mods folder is removed the next time Pulsar checks the folder. Add the file again to get it back.
