Gun packs and load times
Most gun packs need OtherLoader and a few shared libraries before anything shows up in the item spawner, and the biggest packs are split into several Thunderstore packages. Pulsar installs what each mod depends on along with it.
H3VR loads every item bundle at startup, so a long mod list means a long wait in the headset. Give each way you play its own profile, with only the packs it needs.
When H3VR updates
Updates arrive in big chunks, and mods break with them. The developers keep older versions on Steam as beta branches, back to Update 110, and mark the experimental branch as not mod safe.
In Steam, open the game’s Properties, then Betas, and pick the version your mods were built for. Switch back once they’ve caught up. To play the new version in the meantime, stay on it and choose Play without mods.
Save files
Your progress in each mode is a text file, such as TAH.txt for Take and Hold. Back up the
folder before you change mods on a run you care about.
- Windows:
%USERPROFILE%\AppData\LocalLow\RUST LTD\Hot Dogs Horseshoes and Hand Grenades - Linux: the same folder inside the game’s Proton prefix, which starts at
steamapps/compatdata/450540/pfx/drive_c/users/steamuserin your Steam library
